X-ray emission of a Z-pinch initiated from an aluminum liner
Description
Z-pinch are able to produce dense and short X-rays emission, from the hot and dense plasma created. Meanwhile, the development of Rayleigh-Taylor instabilities limits the energy conversion rate. The following configuration decreases these instabilities: the current is delivered in an aluminium vapor fiber, compressed on a central micro metric wire. The aluminium vapor is produced by a 3 mm sheet explosion. The numerical simulation of the implosion, with the assistance of a magneto-hydrodynamic code, allows to find the scale of size for the significant parameters and the optimum configuration concerning the X rate. The results interpretation is done with the assistance of a local thermodynamic non equilibrium collisional-radiative model. The results are in good agreements with a proposed plasma. (A.L.B.)
