NMR - trends ans possibilities

Description

The technical progress in MR systems together with new software developments considerably improved MR tomography and initiated its widespread clinical use. The choice of the magnetic field strength which should be used depends on the requirements of the institution. Developments in coil technology, new sequences, 2D and 3D methods and real time MR imaging have expanded the previous possibilities. Especially, innovations in contrast agents and so called 'magnetic pharmaceuticals' are noteworthy. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

Die technische Entwicklung der MR-Geraete zusammen mit einer Weiterentwicklung der Software macht es moeglich, dass das Verfahren der MR-Tomographie fuer die klinische Anwendung erheblich verbessert und aber auch in seiner Anwendung verbreitet wird. Die Frage der Magnetfeldstaerke ist je nach den Anforderungen der Untersuchungsstelle zu klaeren. Die Entwicklung der Spulentechnik und neuer Sequenzen, 2 D- und 3 D-Verfahren sowie 'real time' MR- Bildgebung erweitern die bisherigen Moeglichkeiten. Dabei ist besonders auch auf die Entwicklung von Kontrastmitteln und sogenannten Magnetpharmazeutika zu achten. (orig.)
