Framework for storing long fuel elements
Description
The fuel elements of square crossection for the PWR are surrounded by boron steel sheaths. An austenitic steel sheet is welded to the upper and lower end of each sheath. With these ends, the sheaths can contribute to the strength of the framework by forming part of it, as the sheets can be provided with holes or projections- which are mechanically connected to the framework. The forces taken up in this way are transmitted via the welds to large surfaces in the mechanically sensitive boron sheets, which therefore are lightly stressed. The sheaths can consist of several longitudinal parts welded together. In this case the weld is interrupted in the area of impact by boron steel and boron-free steel. (DG)

Die BE von quadratischem Querschnitt fuer DWR werden von Huellen aus Borstahl umgeben. Am oberen und unteren Ende jeder Huelle ist ein Blech aus austenitischem Stahl angeschweisst. Mit solchen Enden koennen die Huellen als Teil des Gestells zur Standfestigkeit beitragen, denn die Bleche lassen sich mit Loechern oder Knaggen versehen, die mit dem Gestell eine mechanische Verbindung eingehen. Die damit aufgenommenen Kraefte werden dann ueber die Schweissnaehte grossflaechig und somit spannungsarm in die mechanisch empfindlichen Borblechteile uebertragen. Die Huellen koennen auch aus mehreren in ihrer Laengsrichtung miteinander verschweissten Teilen bestehen. In diesen Fall wird die Schweissnaht im Bereich der Stossstelle von Borstahl und borfreiem Stahl unterbrochen. (DG)Files
