300 keV high-current electron accelerator

The TEUS-3 high-voltage generator, a prototype of generators for serially commercial accelerators, is described. The generator is based on ahree-phase step-up transformer with a space-symmetrical magnetic path. Rectifying units are sets of series-connected diodes with a capacitor divider. The magnetic path is made of transformer steel and its potential is equal to the earth potential. The whole generator is positioned in a cauldron filled with SF6. During tests under nonloaded condition is generated a voltage of 360 kV. In the short-circuit mode at a current of 250 mA the voltage constituted 18.5 % of the rated one (300 kV). At a voltage of 270 kV the accelerating device produced an electron beam with a power of 15 kW. Generator tests proved its efficiency and high reliability
