Effects of litter shift and season on soil-biological parameters of para-brown earth top soil in deciduous forest stands

Description
In a crop of beech and oak in the Forest of Vienna a h horizons (0-5 cm) of acid brown earth and podsol brown earth were sampled representatively twelve times in the course of a year at 13 points in 20 m intervals along a soil drift gradient. Fresh samples were examined in terms of DMSO reductase, xylanase, saccharase and β-glucosidase activities and water-soluble carbon content. Together with the values found for organic carbon and overall nitrogen content, the results obtained were discussed with regard to their spatial and temporal variability and to their suitability as parameters for a bioindication method using biochemical and soil-biological soil characteristics. Abstract (German)
In einem Buchen-Eichenbestand im Wienerwald wurden Ah-Horizonte (0-5 cm) von sauren Braunerden und Podsol-Braunerden an 13 Stellen im Abstand von 20 m entlang eines Streuverwehungsgradienten waehrend eines Jahres zwoelfmal repraesentativ beprobt. An den feldfrischen Proben wurden die DMSO -Reduktase-, Xylanase-, Saccharase- und β-Glucosidaseaktivitaet sowie wasserloeslicher Kohlenstoff bestimmt und zusammen mit den Gehalten an organischem Kohlenstoff und Gesamtstickstoff ihre raeumliche und zeitliche Variabilitaet in Hinblick auf deren Bedeutung fuer eine Bioindikation mittels biochemisch-bodenbiologischer Bodenkennwerte diskutiert.
