Description

Complexation of Am3+ and several Ln3+ ions was studied with a new class of tridentate acidic 'N' donor ligand 2,6-Bis-(tetrazol-5-yl)pyridine (BTzP) using UV-Vis spectrophotometric titrations. Formation of higher stoichiometric complex with very high formation constant in case of Am3+ indicates the selectivity of this ligand towards trivalent actinides over the lanthanides. (author)
