Axial-outflow analysis in a cylindrical sample of deuterium plasma radially compressed by the imploding liner
- 1. Wojskowa Akademia Techniczna, Warsaw (Poland)
Description
The non-stationary problem has been solved by numerical methods, of compressing a cylindrical deuterium sample of a finite length. The compression is brought about by implosion of a cylindrical liner driven by the explosion-induced generator. On the basis of two-dimensional distribution of density and temperature in the deuterium plasma the neutron emission due to thermonuclear reactions has been calculated. The losses have been assessed that result from the axial outflow of plasma at the ends of the system. The problem has been solved with the aid of the two-dimensional hydrodynamic AGROS code that constitutes a generalisation to two dimensions of the classical Richtmayer-von Neumann scheme. (author)
