Reactor power control and shutdown system
Description
The system provides for the power control - especially in load-cycle operation - and the shutdown of a nuclear reactor of, e.g. 500 MWsub(th) which conπains a charge of spherical fuel and/or blanket subassembly of graphite-coated UO2. The charge is surrounded by a graphite reflector with a between the surface of the charge and the surface of the reflector. For changes of reactivity, absorber rods and plates mounted in a circle around a central rod are inserted through the surface of the reflector. For a shutdown of the reactor, the absorber rods are submerged in the charge. The absorber plates which replace some of the absorber rods remain in the clearance or in the absorber material on top by 40 - 100% for operation control. They are of cylindrical shape, with a cross section of 8 x 40 cm. (DG/AK)

Die Einrichtung dient zur Leistungsregelung, insbesondere im Lastwechselbetrieb, und zum Abschalten eines Kernreaktors von z.B. 500 MWsub(th). Er besitzt eine Schuettung von kugelfoermigen Brenn- und/oder Brutelementen aus graphitumschichteten UO2. Die Schuettung ist von einem Reflektor aus Graphit umgeben, wobei zwischen der Oberflaeche der Schuettung und der Decke des Reflektors ein Hohlraum besteht. Durch die Decke des Reflektors werden zur Reaktivitaetsaenderung Absorberstaebe bzw.- platten, die um einen zentralen Stab auf Kreisen liegen, eingefahren. Die Absorberstaebe tauchen zum Abschalten des Reaktors in die Schuettung ein. Die Absorberplatten, die an die Stelle von einigen Absorberstaeben treten, verbleiben zur Leistungsregelung zwischen 40 und 100% im Hohlraum oder im Reflektormaterial der Decke. Sie sind zylindrisch mit einem Querschnitt von 8 x 40 cm ausgebildet. (DG)Files
