Structure of clusters. Application of new methods of analysis

Description

Published data are used to study 14 rich southern clusters of galaxies by means of new methods of analysis. Small substructures in these clusters are not distinguished on the background of random fluctuations. A systematic noncoincidence of the centroids of galaxies with velocities greater and less than the mean velocity of the cluster is found. A positive correlation between the asymmetry coefficients of the distribution of the coordinates of the members of these groups indicates asymmetry of the smoothed shapes of the central regions of some clusters. 4 refs., 12 tabs
