Spatiotemporal Characteristics in Raman Amplication of Ultrashort Laser Pulses

  • 1. Chung-Ang University, Seoul (Korea, Republic of)

Description

The spatiotemporal characteristics of pulse evolution during laser pulse amplication using two counter-propagating laser pulses have been investigated using a one-dimensional fluid model of stimulated Raman backscattering (RBS). By using the spatiotemporal patterns of the electron plasma wave and the seed wave, we examine the spatiotemporal features of the RBS interaction and the dynamical transitions in terms of the initial pump intensity, the plasma density, and the collisional damping rate. Throughout this work, the relevant results of previous works were confirmed and a pulse-competing behavior was newly observed.
