Description

The historical aspects of cooperation between Czechoslovakia and the USSR are given. A significant event in this area was the signing of the agreement of April 30, 1970 under which Czechoslovakia began building WWER type nuclear power plants. The development of nuclear power, however, makes it necessary to resolve problems related to the optimi-zation of relations between the development of the nuclear power complex and the environment, especially in nuclear power plant localities. Within multilateral agreements the CMEA countries cooperate in the development of fast reactors, TOKAMAK facilities, spent fuel processing, radioactive waste disposal, etc. (J.P.)
