Description
Crystalline terbium carbonate has been synthesized using ammonium bicarbonate as a precipitant. The x-ray diffraction data have been indexed and these indicate a monoclinic system with cell parameters, a = 18.745 A, b = 14.244 A, c = 15.329 A and β = 95.263deg. The structure is closely related to those of tengerite type rare earth carbonates reported in the literature. The IR data for terbium carbonate show the presence of two non-equivalent carbonate groups. (author). 13 refs., 2 tabs., 4 figs
