Investigation into mechanism of sorption of metals by complexing ionites

  • 1. Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Inst. Plasticheskikh Mass, Moscow (USSR)

Description

The mechanism of Cd2+ sorption on AN-40 and AN-25 anionites was investigated with the aid of the IR-spectroscopical method. The nature of changes in infrared spectra of the metal-containing anionite makes it possible to conclude that complexes are formed in the anionite phase and vary with respect to their composition and stereochemistry. The following can be determined from the spectra: the relative coordinational activity of the metal, and the degree of involvement of ligand groups in the coordination with metal. Coordination of Cd2+ with anionite causes a shift in the 1598 cm-1 band into a short-wave spectral region. This indicates the relatively stable nature of cadmium complex with anionites. The stability constants of the investigated complexes were determined
