After-heat removal device in reactors

Description

Purpose: To moderate hot shocks caused by high temperature coolants flowing from a reactor upon start of an after-heating removal device. Constitution: Pipeways connecting the reactor with the after-heat removal system are constituted as coaxial double wall tubes. In the double wall tubes, heat exchange is performed between the high temperature fluid issuing out of the reactor and the low temperature fluid removed from the after heat removal system and flowing into the reactor. By feeding the high temperature fluid after moderate cooling from the reactor to the after-heat removal system, hot shocks to the after-heat removal system can be prevented. (Ikeda, J.)
