Thermoluminescence dating of the Beaunit maar (Puy de Dome)
Description
Thermoluminescence age estimation has been performed on two different types of pyroclastic materials of the Beaunit maar (Puy de Dome). The dating performed on xenolith rich black scoriae provides an age of 50 ± 12 ky and the dating of lapilli mixed with fragments of basement rocks give an age of 57 ± 9 ky.The mean age of the phreatic-magmatic eruption is thus of 54 ± 7 ky
