Profile of a NACE test method - Conception through birth

  • 1. Parker Hannifin Corporation, Seal Group, Culver City, CA

Description

As with most NACE task groups, T-1G-17 was formed to address a specific problem - the use of non-metallic materials in hydrogen sulfide service. The most pressing problem was the use of elastomers in down-hole service. Procedures for a screening test were decided upon and a Round Robin Testing Program conducted to validate the test method. Results of the testing are presented and discussed. The conclusion is made that the proposed test method is reproducible between laboratories and thus will provide a standard method for initial screening of elastomers for down-hole sour service
