Clinical evaluation of IgE 'Eiken' kit by double antibody method

  • 1. Nagasaki Univ. (Japan). School of Medicine

Description

An IgE 'Eiken' kit was fundamentally evaluated by measuring the ordinary concentration (Method II) and the low concentration (Method III) of IgE in serum samples. Standard curves, interassay variance, and intraassay variance were well reproducible. Recovery and dilution tests yielded good results. There was good correlation both between Method II and radio immuno sorbent test and between Method III and paper radio immuno sorbent test. A serum assay with this kit in 39 normal adults regarded the normal upper limits of serum IgE as 410 IU/ml. Serum IgE levels were significantly higher in patients with atopic dermatitis, atopic bronchial asthma, or allergic rhinitis than in normal controls. The levels were below the normal upper limits in patients with non-atopic bronchial asthma. (Namekawa, K.)
