Research on a new silicon avalanche drift detector and its energy resolution

  • 1. College of Nuclear Science and Technology, Beijing Normal University (China)

Description

In this manuscript, a new silicon avalanche drift detector (ADD) with front illumination is proposed and the feasibility of the device operation is verified by the ISE-TCAD simulation. The detector is supposed to have better performance in the detection of shorter-wavelength light and matching with common scintillation crystal by comparison to previous version (PMT, Si-PIN, APD, SDD). Calculations and analysis show that the ADD-based La2Br3 : Ce scintillation detectors exhibit excellent energy resolution in the detection of γ-ray, particularly in the portion of the low energy region.
