The paper and presentation Waste Acceptance Criteria for Storage and Disposal. Requirements of the Safety Regulatory Authority by R. Sharafutdinov from Nuclear Supervision Service, Russia, described safety objectives, principles and requirements in RW management: • Basic safety principles and requirements for RW disposal. • Waste acceptance criteria for storage and disposal, requirements and recommendations. • Safety requirements for legacy RW management. To speed up activities for management of legacy RW, decommissioning of nuclear installations in Russia and RW disposal, the paper suggested the following: − improve calculation methods for assessment of long-term safety of RW disposal facilities; − improve RW classification by disposal method; − adopt methodology for identification of clearance levels for very-low activity materials.
