Peculiarities of X-ray measurements of residual stresses in thin TiN coatings

Description

By the X-ray method residual macrostresses in TiN coatings on substrates of steels and titanium alloys are determined. High compressing stresses reacting 3000 MPa, the value of which depends on the type of substrate and sputtering conditions, are detected. It is shown that structureless state of the coatings is the effective method of the strained state homogeneity
