Physical protection of nuclear materials and nuclear facilities in Slovakia

This paper contains short description of physical protection system in the Slovak Republic. The first nuclear power plant (NPP) started its operation in 1972. During last more than thirty years the physical protection level was adequate to the contemporary requirements. However only since end of 80's more complex approach to the physical protection commenced. In 1993 Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic (NRA SR) was established. From the beginning NRA SR tried to meet all international recommendations and requirements in the field of the physical protection of nuclear materials and nuclear facilities. (author)
