Radial eigenmodes of the discrete Alfven spectrum

Description
The eigenfrequencies and eigenmodes of the discrete Alfven spectrum for a straight tokamak plasma with constant current density profile are solved analytically. The results offer a clear physical insight into the eigenfrequency scaling and mode asymmetry mentioned in earlier works using numerical calculations and a variational technique for a real plasma profile. It is also shown that the ion-cyclotron frequency broadens the spacing of the eigenfrequencies of the ideal magnetohydrodynamic spectrum
