How Switzerland has benefited from the market approach

Description
The introduction and development of nuclear power in Switzerland is described with reference to choice of reactor and operating performance of the four nuclear units. The absence of protectionist policies has meant that foreign companies have found important market outlets. This has conditioned Swiss industry to be efficient and competitive. Project control exercised by the utilities or by consulting engineers on their behalf is discussed. (UK)
