Description

In this work an attempt to evaluate the feasibility of an integral CANDU Reactor (ICR) is presented. A general criterion (GCR) is formulated based on analysis of arguments in favour of this project. A set of thirteen dimensionless criteria is presented and discussed which enter additively to form the general criterion. The problem of ICR was considered by us in a previous work in which some advantages of this approach for the CANDU system were described. In the present work we tried to apply the figure of merit approach to assess the value of such enterprise. Some considerations concerning the improvements of the PUREX process mentioned in the literature (IMPUREX) were taken into account. (author)
