Liquid--liquid extraction of gold with nickel bis(diethyldithiocarbamate) and its application to activation analysis

  • 1. Swiss Federal Inst. for Reactor Research, Wuerenlingen

Description

The extraction of Au3+ with nickel bis(diethyldithiocarbamate), Ni((C2H5)2NCS2)2, is investigated. It is shown that this extraction offers a simple, fast, and selective isolation of Au from a variety of matrices. Applications of this separation scheme to the neutron activation analysis of Sn, Fe2O3, standard rocks, and biological materials are given. The recovery of Au is quantitative, and there is therefore no need to determine the chemical yield of the separation. The recovered Au is of high radiochemical purity
