Investigation of TiO2-Ln2O3 systems under shock wave action

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Khimicheskoj Fiziki

Description

Consideration has been given to TiO2-Ln2O3 (Ln - from La to Lu and Y) systems in the composition range of 30-70 mol% at shock-wave loading. A general principle has been established consisting in the existence of a hexagonal modification of Ln2TiO5 (Ln - from Sm to Lu and Y) compounds and two cubic solid solutions, type pyrochlorine and fluorite. Regions where solid solutions exist have been studied for a number of systems, and a continuous transition from the structure of pyrochlorine to that of fluorite in TiO2-Ln2O3 (Ln - from Ho to Lu and Y) systems in the corresponding conditions of shock loading suggested. A hexagonal modifications has been obtained for Ln2TiO5 (Ln - from Sm to Lu and Y) compounds
