Influence of structural effect via nuclear radius on thermalization in heavy-ion collisions
Description
With the advent of radioactive ion beam facilities, the interest of community has been shifted in studying the reaction dynamics of neutron-rich nuclei. Such studies are important as they provide a deeper insight about the isospin dependence of in-medium nuclear effective interactions. Hence recent investigations on thermalization are done for neutron rich colliding partners in order to understand the isospin effects of NN scattering. At the same time, nuclear charge radius plays an important role in various phenomena at low energies such as fusion, cluster radioactivity etc. Most of the transport models/theoretical approaches use normal liquid drop radius (R=R0A1/3) to initialize the colliding nuclei. But for a long time it has been known that nuclear charge radius decreases slower than A1/3. In this direction, couples of studies have been done in recent past where other parameterized forms of nuclear radius (such as those depending on N-Z) have been implemented in transport models. For example, dynamics of transverse in-plane flow at intermediate energies has been found to get strongly affected by nuclear radius. Also, there is a correlation between nuclear stopping and transverse in-plane flow, and therefore we aim to study the influence of nuclear charge radius on nuclear stopping. The present study is carried out using isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics (IQMD) model
