Description

A spectroscopic study of the complex Eu(fod)3 adsorbed on lamellar silica (LS) is performed. It has shown that the intensity of the 5Do → 7F2 emission band is very sensitive to the total amount of the adsorbed complex, considering samples with 1, 5 and 10% of the complex. Furthermore, it has also shown that the intensity of the same band is very sensitive to time, if the samples of Eu(fod)3 - lamellar silica are pressed at 380 MPa. The luminescence lifetimes for the 1, 5 and 10 % matrices pressed for 0.5 min are 507, 551 and 581 μs, respectively. The obtained results suggest that LS could be used as an inert substrate to support Eu(fod)3 and, possibly, another LCMDs, and the Eu(fod)3 doped LS could be employed as a spectroscopic 'pressure sensor'.
