A new program for renal function assessment

  • 1. Medical University, Sofia (Bulgaria)

Description

The study of intrarenal dynamics characterizing a nephrotropic radiopharmaceutical yields information on the functional state of kidneys and proves very accurate when transit times are measured using deconvolution analysis. The work is designed to implement deconvolution analysis in the routine daily practice in patients presenting various nephrological diseases. A total of 33 persons - 28 patients and 5 healthy controls - are covered by the study. All cases undergo dynamic scintigraphy with 99mTc-MAG3 with zones of interestin the kidneys and heart being delineated using a new computerized program for evaluating their functional state. Apart from familiar qualitative and quantitative criteria the final outcome is assayed also on the base of the following parameters of deconvolution: Tdis/P (PTTI), Tdis-T (WKTTI), Tmean/P (MPTT). The early results obtained are described and discussed with the interference being reached that the new software program promotes detailed and specific assessment contributing in turn to diagnosis and differential diagnosis in a number of diseases involving the kidneys
