Radiation-stimulated colour centers and recombination luminescence in garnet crystals

  • 1. AN RU, Tashkent (Uzbekistan). Inst. Yadernoj Fiziki

Description

The typical recombination glow of nominally pure garnet crystals has been studied. Short wave-length part of this radiation is shown to be intrinsic and it originates during radiative decay of exciton-like electron states resulting from the electron recombination with holes localized at the bottom of valence band. These holes being stable at low temperatures are supposed to be responsible for wide absorption band in IR-range. (author)
