Neutron flight-time spectrometer on the u-150 cyclotron of the institute of nuclear physics of the academy of sciences of the uzbek ssr

Description

The authors attempt to obtain improved values of the cross sections of reactions with neutron yield in a wide energy range. Several types of reaction chambers with remote target replacement have been developed so that work can be done with both thin and thick targets. The beam current on the target is measured with an integrator. The paper also describes two versions of the flight-time spectrometer: one with a time-amplitude converter combined with a multichannel analyzer and one with an encoder of the time intervals combined with an SM-4 computer. A spectrometer of fast neutrons is used to measure the angular distributions of neutrons from (p, n), (n, n), and (n, n') reactions at light nuclei. The experimental data are thereafter analyzed with the microscopical model of direct nuclear reactions, taking into account the compound nucleus according to the Hauser-Feshbach model. In this way the reaction mechanisms can be established and the structure of the nuclei examined
