Preliminary study using polyzirconium chloride (PZC) as column adsorbent in the Tc-99m generator

  • 1. Malaysian Inst. for Nuclear Technology Research MINT, Bangi (Malaysia). Medical Technology Div.

Description

Technetium-99m was widely used in diagnostic nuclear medicine around the world. Poly Zirconium Chloride (PZC) was prepared from Zirconium tetrachloride and isopropyl alcohol. To adsorb Mo-99, PZC was added to the Mo-99 solution prepared from neutron irradiated natural MoO3. The amount of Mo-99 adsorb to the PZC reached about 200 mg/g PZC. The yield of the Tc-99m eluted and Mo breakthrough were measured. (Author)
