Spins and structures of 59Co levels produced in the reaction 59Co(n, n'#betta#)59Co
Description
The VVR-K reactor of the Kazakh Academy of Sciences has been used to investigate the #betta# radiation from inelastic scattering of fast neutrons by metallic 59Co at an angle of 1250 with respect to the incident beam. The population of levels excited in the reaction 59Co(n, n'#betta#)59Co was measured. The experimental values were analyzed on the basis of the Hauser-Feshbach-Moldauer statistical theory of the compound nucleus. As a result the spins of 14 excited states were determined. With use of data obtained previously, a decay scheme of the excited levels of 59Co has been constructed and a comparison has been made with theoretical calculations in the approximation of the intermediate-coupling model
