Direct complexometric determination of uranium(IV) by EDTA and methylthymol blue as indicator

Description

A simple and accurate method of uranium determination by complexometric titration of U4+ is described. For the reduction of U6+ to U4+ sodium dithionite at pH 3 is used. The titration with EDTA using methylthymol blue as indicator can be performed visually or by photometer. The influence of many ions has been investigated. The method becomes much more selective by including an extraction step with triphenylarsine oxide. (Auth.)
