Thermal neutron detection with Cr-39 using the electrochemical etching technique

  • 1. Instituto de Pesquisas Energeticas e Nucleares (IPEN), Sao Paulo, SP (Brazil)

Description

The thermal neutron detection with CR-39 (Pershore Moulding, 500 μm, 0.2% DOP and 2.6% IPP) is studied. Thermal neutrons are detected by alpha tracks registration using a BN (Kodak) (n,α) converter. The electrochemical etching technique with PEW solution is used. The etching conditions, the sensitivity and maximum detectable fluence have been determined. (author)
