Development of real time welding control system by using image processing

Description

The technology to make torch position control and welding heat input (wetting to the groove surface) control through detection of the thermal image of the molten pool and processing of this image was developed. The features of the development are as follows. A welding control system that configured of an infrared camera that is unitized with the welding head, an image processor and a welding controller was developed. The temperature level of 1,4000C with austenitic stainless steel was selected as the image processing temperature, and it was confirmed that favorate control can be made at this temperature level. The one through time from detection of a thermal image to execution of correction control is 0.5 second. Thus real time control is permitted. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

Es wurde ein Schweisssteuerungssystem fuer das WIG-Schweissen mit schmalem Spalt entwickelt. Dieses System ermoeglicht gleichzeitige Steuerung von Schweissbrennerposition und Schweisswaermezufuhr durch Bildverarbeitung fuer das Waermemuster der Schmelzzone. Das isothermische Waermemuster der Schweisszone wird durch eine Infrarotkamera entdeckt, und das Waermemuster der Schmelzzone wird durch Bildverarbeitung gewaehlt. Die Position des Schweissbrenners wird entsprechend der Beurteilung des symmetrischen Ausmasses des Waermemusters gesteuert. Die Steuerung der Schweisswaermezufuhr erfolgt durch Vergleich des Bereiches des Waermemusters mit dem Bereich eines Standardmusters. Mit diesem System ist es moeglich, den optimalen Schweisszustand in Echtzeit beizubehalten. (orig.)
