Determination of a time scale for the emission of high-energy photons in heavy-ion fusion reactions
- 1. Max Planck Institut fuer Kernphysik, D-6900 Heidelberg, West Germany
Description
Charged-particle--γ-ray coincidences have been measured following the fusion of 16O+ 58Ni at E/sub c.m./ = 60 MeV. Particle energy and angular distributions in coincidence with γ rays detected with the Max Planck Institut--Gesellschaft fuer Schwerionenforschung 4π γ-ray spectrometer are measured, from which it is possible to estimate the time at which high-energy photons are emitted in the compound-nuclear decay process. In addition, information is obtained about the γ-ray multiplicity associated with the energetic photons
