Seismic analysis of NSSS components of prototype fast breeder reactor

  • 1. Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam (India)

Description

Full text: FBR structures, being thin walled large diameter shells, are very sensitive to seismic accelerations. Hence, the structural responses under these loads are to be predicted with particular care. In this paper, for 500 MWe prototype fast breeder reactor (PFBR), the seismic design issues are presented in a comprehensive way including the FBR general characteristics, definition of site seismicity, critical components and failure modes, design requirements and analysis methodology. A few important results are also presented
