On materials resistant to oxidation for hot-gas turbines and jet units. Pt.1

Description
The highly alloyed chromium and chromium-nickel steels represent an excellent material for the construction of gas turbines operating at high temperatures and jet engines with isothermic and cyclic temperature guidance. Aluminum containing nickel-chromium alloys are superior in their oxidation behavior compared to the corresponding cobalt-chromium alloys. The presence of small amounts of halides and sulfur compounds in the combustion gases require additions of particular compounds to the alloys to save the expensive high-grade alloys against corrosion at high temperatures. In order to limit the expenses of the alloys, it is necessary to focus the development on oxidation resistant layer coated on the basic alloy. (orig./IHO)
Abstract (German)
In den hochlegierten Chrom- und Chrom-Nickelstaehlen verfuegen wir ueber Werkstoffe, die fuer den Bau von Heissgasturbinen mit zyklischer Temperaturfuehrung und von Strahltriebwerken geeignet sind. Aluminiumhaltige Nickel-Chromlegierungen sind im Korrosionsverhalten bei hohen Temperaturen den Kobalt-Chromlegierungen ueberlegen. Halogenide und Schwefelverbindungen in den Feuergasen erfordern besondere Massnahmen, um die Korrosion der hochwertigen und teuren Legierungen auch bei hohen Temperaturen in vertretbare Grenzen zu halten. Um den Legierungsaufwand kostenmaessig im Rahmen zu halten, muss der Schwerpunkt der Entwicklung auf oxidationsschuetzenden Schichten liegen. (orig./IHO)Additional details
