Promotion of research on renewable fuels: Analysis of the economic aspects of power generation from biomass

Of the many available materials, the production of ethanol from cereals and the production of rapeseed oil or rapeseed oil methyl ester from rapeseed are investigated. Both products are used as fuel components or fuel substitutes. In addition, the use of 'dry' biomass, e.g. miscanthus and straw, as alternative solid fuel was investigated from the economic point of view. Gasification of solid biomass and methanol production, both of which have already been investigated in project studies, are investigated as well. (orig.)
