The effect of austenitizing temperature in C.O.D. initial values of Niocor 2 steel of two different niobium contents

Description
The effect of the austenitizing temperature on the fracture toughness of Niocar 2 steel of two different niobium contents (0,04 and 0,16%) was studied by means of C.O.D. testing. Except for very elevated austenitizing temperatures (12500C), C.O.D. values for initiation were shown to be higher for the high niobium steel. The decrease in toughness associated with elevated austenitizing temperatures is attributed to the presence of acicular phase transformation products. (Author)

O efeito da temperatura de austenitizacao sobre a tenacidade do aco Niocar 2 de dois teores diferentes de niobio (0,04 e 0,16%) foi estudado atraves de ensaios de C.O.D.. Constatou-se que, exceto para temperaturas de austenitizacao bastante elevadas (12500C), o aco de alto Nb apresenta uma nitida vantagem no que se refere aos valores de C.O.D. de iniciacao. A queda da tenacidade para altas temperaturas de austenitizacao foi associada ao aparecimento de produtos de morfologia acicular. (Autor)Files
