Description

An investigation was carried through to compare the radiodensity of the renal calix system and the contrasting of the renal parenchyma by means of a low-osmolarity contrast medium (Meglumin-sodium-joxaglate)sup(*)N48 on the one hand and a high-osmolarity one (Meglumin-sodium-jotalamate)sup(**)N50 on the other hand. The investigations was carried through as an interindividual double-blind study. As the evaluation revealed, the renal calix system is much better contrasted with the low-osmolarity contrast medium; the difference was statistically significant. Its use in patients with impaired renal function and in paediatric radiology therefore is justified. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

(orig.)
