LHB's or large hadron beautyfactories

Description

The possibility of using the beams of future Supercolliders on fixed targets to study Beauty physics, in particular CP-violation is discussed. The channel Bd → J/ψ + KS is well-constrained and could be easily separated from background even in the high-multiplicity environment of hadron events. Channeling in bent crystals appears to be most promising method to produce an extracted beam of intensity ∼ 108 p/sec. This would allow to collect as many as 1010 BB-bar pairs per year of run, two orders of magnitude more than could be produced by an e+e- B-factory with L=1034cm-2s-1. (author) 20 refs., 8 figs
