Optimal active targets for muon catalyzed fusion reactors
Description
A simple but realistic design for the muon production system of a muon catalyzed fusion reactor is presented. Starting with a careful optimization of the pion production target we next consider the complete system where pion production target we next consider the complete system where pion conversion losses and muon losses in the pressure vessel are taken into account. Problems and inefficiencies are identified to provide a basis for future invetions
