In situ experiments in granite associated with the disposal of radioactive waste
Description
The International Stripa Project was established in 1980 to develop techniques to fully investigate sites located underground in granite formations potentially suitable for the disposal of high level radioactive waste, and also to examine particular engineering and environmental phenomena associated with the long term performance of a high waste repository. These proceedings present the results and conclusions from Phase I of the Project (1980-85) together with the preliminary findings of Phase II (1983-86). Early results are included from similar experimental facilities in the OECD
