Description

The excellent properties of CR 39 as a fast neutron detector are well known. The aim of this work was to develop a compound detector system which combines the advantages of CR 39 with the fast read-out of spark counting. Usually the detector films are read by optical equipment, which is very slow. A composite film consisting of a CR 39 film of 35 μm thickness and a polyester sheet of about 150 μm thickness has been manufactured which is resistant to the NaOH etchant. The effective evaluation technique of electrochemical etching was applied. (author)
