On the density limit in tokamaks

Description
A model for an ultimate density limit in tokamaks is presented. The model is based on considerations of radiative power balance and ideal ballooning stability limits at the plasma edge. Predictions for MAST are made and a comparison with experimental data on MAST is presented and discussed. (author)
