The 22 June 2023 law: a subdued revival of nuclear energy

Whereas the law of the 22 June 2023 related to the acceleration of procedures related to the construction of new nuclear installations aimed at a revival of nuclear energy, the author proposes a critical reading of this law, and highlights the existence of some insufficiencies within this text, which create obstacles to this revival. More precisely, he discusses measures aimed at a revival of nuclear energy (suppression of breaks to electric power production by means of nuclear energy, creation of a specific legal regime to accelerate the construction of electro-nuclear reactors), and outlines insufficiencies of the law (lack of growing of instruction and control staffs, the issue of reactor lifetime extension)
