Intensities of absorption bands in polarized IR spectra of some oriented polymer models

Description

In the study of structure and properties of oriented polymers, an important role plays the method of polarization IR spectroscopy. But IR spectroscopy is an indirect method. Therefore, the interpretation of polarization IR spectra and the extraction of information on structure, properties, and orientation of macromolecules from these spectra necessitate theoretical studies of dependence of intensities of absorption bands in polarization IR spectra of oriented polymers on their structure, properties, and orientation. Some models of oriented polymers have been considered, within the framework of which it is possible to obtain formulas for the intensities of absorption bands in IR spectra of oriented polymers, which makes possible to calculate the integral intensities and dichroic ratios of absorption bands. For two models of polymer orientation, formulas for the intensities of absorption bands in the polarization IR spectra of oriented polymers have been obtained. These formulas make possible to simulate changes in polarization IR spectra of oriented polymers during stretching. (author)
