Control rod
Description
Purpose: To enclose tritium gasses produced in the control rods in an LMFBR type reactor. Constitution: An air-tight container made of metal such as Pd, Ni which have high permeability for tritium at high temperature, is accommodated in a pipe of control rods. Tritium oxidizer such as CuO or the like is filled in the container. When the reactor is operated, the tritium gasses produced in the control rods is permeate through the airtight container wall into the interior, and is oxidized with the oxidizer to become water, and is stored in the container.
